Job summary

Lynx Recruitment Ltd partners with a growing electrical engineering business in Norfolk to recruit a Senior Project Design Engineer (Electrical & Controls). You will lead electrical design from concept through manufacturing, testing and commissioning on a varied range of automation projects.

The ideal candidate holds an HNC/HND in Electrical Engineering or equivalent, is proficient with EN60204/BS7671 and skilled in EPLAN and AutoCAD. UK travel is required.

Qualifications

• HNC/HND in Electrical Engineering or equivalent industry experience.
• Experience in electrical design, industrial automation and control systems.
• Proficiency with EN60204 and BS7671 standards.

Responsibilities

• Design electrical control systems, automation solutions and LV switchgear assemblies.
• Produce electrical schematics, control panel layouts and backplate designs using EPLAN and AutoCAD.
• Manage projects from enquiry through to delivery and commissioning.
• Prepare quotations, technical proposals, estimates and project documentation.
• Liaise with customers, suppliers, subcontractors and internal production teams.
• Support project planning and departmental objectives.
• Provide technical guidance to junior engineers and apprentices.
• Support FAT, installation, commissioning, fault finding and SAT activities.
• Ensure designs comply with industry standards and customer specifications.
• Prepare technical files, operating manuals and project handover documentation.

JOB - Senior Project Design Engineer - Electrical & Controls

LOCATION - Norfolk

TERM - Permanent

SALARY - £45,000 - £52,000 DOE

My client is a growing electrical engineering business specialising in industrial automation, control systems and low voltage switchgear solutions.

Due to continued growth, they are looking for an experienced Senior Project Design Engineer to join their expanding team, taking responsibility for delivering projects from initial concept and electrical design through to manufacture, testing and commissioning.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Electrical Design Engineer with strong project management skills to work on a varied range of technically challenging projects across multiple industries.

The ideal candidate will have:

• HNC/HND in Electrical Engineering or equivalent industry experience
• Proven experience in electrical design, industrial automation and control systems
• Strong knowledge of EN60204 and BS7671 standards
• Proficiency using EPLAN and AutoCAD to produce electrical schematics and panel layouts
• Experience designing electrical control panels and backplates
• Experience managing engineering projects from enquiry through to completion
• Good understanding of LV switchgear and electrical manufacturing processes
• Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
• Experience supporting and mentoring junior engineers or apprentices
• Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel throughout the UK

The following would be advantageous:

• Experience with LV switchgear design and manufacture
• Knowledge of UL508A, UKCA and CE requirements
• Experience with pneumatic system design
• Experience preparing Functional Design Specifications (FDS)
• Knowledge of manufacturing and build documentation
• Experience with FAT, SAT and commissioning activities
