ATA Recruitment is assisting a Leicestershire-based company that designs and manufactures bespoke mechanical systems. The role of Senior Project/Contracts Engineer involves leading design projects from sales handover, performing site measurements, and coordinating procurement of bought-out items.

You will produce 2D fabrication drawings in AutoCAD, migrate toward 3D design with Fusion, and handle layout planning, airflow calculations and change requests while maintaining strong client

Qualifications

• Experience producing 2D sheet metal and fabrication drawings.
• Experience in designing bespoke fabricated and sheet metal components.
• Confident building relationships with customers.
• Willing to take responsibility for a project from design through delivery.
• Capable of working to tight deadlines under pressure.

Responsibilities

• Lead design projects after sales handover.
• Inspect customer sites for measurements and space fit.
• Order bought-out items from suppliers including control panels and ATEX valves.
• Produce drawings for manufacture using AutoCAD and Fusion.
• Design ducting, air valves, fans and panels for filters.
• Create layouts showing equipment fit and plan views.
• Calculate air flow, pressure drops and filter sizing.
• Maintain customer contact during design and manufacturing and manage change requests.

Senior Project/Contracts Engineer

Leicestershire

£45,000 - 55,000

The Company

I'm working exclusively with a Leicestershire based business who design and manufacture bespoke mechanical systems for their customers. The business has a trading history dating back over 70 years and have solidified themselves as a trusted supplier in their sector.

The systems consist of a range of components including ducting, filtration systems, fans and metal enclosures which are all manufactured through a range of sheet metal and fabrication processes.

The business is under new leadership and has ambitious plans to grow in a market where demand for their product is high and the opportunity for expansion is great.

The Role

The role of Senior Project/Contracts Engineer will see you lead design projects once sales handover a won project. Your role will then involve:

• Carrying out customer site inspection to take measurements and ensure the space and layout required for equipment is fit for purpose.
• Order the bought out items from suppliers. These include control panels, ATEX valves and seals.
• Producing all the drawings for manufacture using AutoCAD. The business has recently purchased Fusion which will see them migrate to 3D design in the longer term.
• Key items and components being designed will be ducting, air valves, fans, impellers, panels for the filters.
• Using AutoCAD to produce overview layouts of how equipment will fit into the customers plant and plan view layouts.
• Carrying out calculations for air flow, pressure drops, sizing of filters and air volume.
• Maintain contact with the customer through the design and manufacturing process of project taking any change requests through the design process and keeping the client up to speed on project delivery against expectations.

• To be comfortable working to tight deadlines and under pressure
• To have a supporting mechanical engineering qualification
