ATA Recruitment partners with a Leicestershire-based manufacturer of bespoke mechanical systems to recruit a Senior Project/Contracts Engineer. You will lead projects from sales handover through design to delivery on customer sites, with responsibility for drawings, layout, and close customer collaboration.

The role requires producing 2D sheet metal drawings, experience in bespoke fabrication, and strong customer relationship skills.

Qualifications

• To be comfortable producing 2D detailed sheet metal and fabrication drawings
• Experience in the design of bespoke fabricated and sheet metal components
• Confident building relationships with customers
• Willing to take responsibility for a whole project from design through project delivery
• Comfortable working to tight deadlines and under pressure
• Holding a supporting mechanical engineering qualification

Responsibilities

• Lead projects from sales handover, through design to delivery of equipment to customer sites
• Carry out customer site inspections to take measurements and assess space/layout
• Order bought-out items from suppliers (control panels, ATEX valves and seals)
• Produce all manufacture drawings using AutoCAD; migrate to 3D design with Fusion
• Design ducting, air valves, fans, impellers and panels for filters
• Create overview layouts with AutoCAD for fitment in customers’ plants
• Perform calculations for air flow, pressure drops, and air volume sizing
• Maintain ongoing customer contact during design and manufacturing; handle change requests

The Company

I’m working exclusively with a Leicestershire based business who design and manufacture bespoke mechanical systems for their customers. The business has a trading history dating back over 70 years and have solidified themselves as a trusted supplier in their sector.

The systems consist of a range of components including ducting, filtration systems, fans and metal enclosures which are all manufactured through a range of sheet metal and fabrication processes.

The business is under new leadership and has ambitious plans to grow in a market where demand for their product is high and the opportunity for expansion is great.

As part of their growth they are recruiting for a Senior Project/Contracts Engineer with immediate effect. You will be responsible for leading projects with customers from sales handover, through design up until delivery of equipment to customer sites.

The Role

• Carrying out customer site inspection to take measurements and ensure the space and layout required for equipment is fit for purpose.
• Order the bought out items from suppliers. These include control panels, ATEX valves and seals.
• Producing all the drawings for manufacture using AutoCAD. The business has recently purchased Fusion which will see them migrate to 3D design in the longer term.
• Key items and components being designed will be ducting, air valves, fans, impellers, panels for the filters.
• Using AutoCAD to produce overview layouts of how equipment will fit into the customers plant and plan view layouts.
• Carrying out calculations for air flow, pressure drops, sizing of filters and air volume.
• Maintain contact with the customer through the design and manufacturing process of project taking any change requests through the design process and keeping the client up to speed on project delivery against expectations.
