A leading company in the UK is seeking a Senior Project Accountant to manage financial operations for PFI Lifecycle Projects. The role involves delivering financial management, compliance, and reporting, while collaborating with various teams. BAM UK & I are looking for a Senior Project Accountant who can be based from any of our UK & I offices, working on a hybrid basis.
Deliver efficient and effective operational financial management in support of the overall strategy and performance objectives of the PFI Lifecycle Projects.
Operate as a key member of the Lifecycle and Finance teams, as well as the wider finance community.
Provide comprehensive, high-quality analysis to support business decision-making.
Ensure compliance with Group and Segment-specific financial and commercial procedures and policies.
Be responsible for Lifecycle financial planning and reporting.
Leadership Support – build relationships and enhance collaboration with lifecycle leadership teams, operations, and commercial teams (Commercial assistants & QS). Demonstrate strong understanding of project financial performance, key project risks, and opportunities.
Reporting and Analysis – develop and maintain reports to support decision-making and risk mitigation, focusing on P&L and cash. Ensure management reporting aligns with organizational goals. Provide accurate management information through various reports, including client spend forecasts for budget management.
Lifecycle forecast reporting, reconciliations, and preparation for quarterly sign-off meetings.
Lifecycle surplus revenue recognition and reporting.
Financial Reviews – support project reviews and financial evaluations during monthly and quarterly meetings.
Month-End – meet month-end deadlines with accurate records and controls, adhering to revenue recognition policies.
Budgeting and Forecasting – complete budgets and forecasts timely, with trend and KPI analysis, managing financial risks and opportunities.
Cash management – coordinate cash flow forecasts, WIP, and debt reviews to optimize working capital. Support payment applications and end-to-end O2C activities.
Financial Modelling & Bids – collaborate with business partners and lifecycle managers to develop financial models.
Process improvements – support system integrations and automation, reducing manual reconciliations and streamlining information gathering.
PO reconciliations and tracking, supporting audit requirements.
Wider Support – oversee or coordinate end-to-end O2C, P2P, and R2R activities, ensuring best practices and supporting project administration staff.
Adhoc activities – contribute to work-winning initiatives and strategic objectives.
Finance professional with qualified ACCA/ACA/CIMA credentials (PQ accepted with ongoing study and a plan to qualify soon).
Experience in finance roles within large, complex projects or frameworks.
Strong knowledge of sector-related markets and regulatory environments.
Experience supporting and influencing management and leadership teams in strategy and business planning.
Understanding of management systems, policies, and processes underpinning large enterprises, with a focus on compliance and continuous improvement.
Experience developing internal and external relationships to enhance performance.
Knowledge of project and program financial management, pricing, and negotiation.
Ability to explain contractual terms, KPIs, and act accordingly.
