Job description

Senior Programme Delivery Manager (SDE Technical Transformation Programmes)

Hours of work: 37.5hrs/week

Date of interview: Stage one – 12 October (via Teams), stage two – 23 October (in-person)

A bit more about the role

The Health Informatics team has specialist skills in delivering complex, technical programmes of work that include providing secure environments for storing and accessing health and other sensitive data to support health and care delivery, research, and innovation.

This role is part of the Programme Delivery function within the Health Informatics Team. A significant proportion of this role will focus on delivery of nationally funded technical transformation programmes within the Eastern England Secure Data Environment (EE-SDE), including the Platform as a Service (PaaS) and Zenith/AIRR programmes. The postholder will coordinate delivery across NHS organisations, universities, Secure Data Environments, information governance specialists and technical teams to develop reusable infrastructure, governance and operating models that can be adopted across the wider UK health data research ecosystem.

The post holder will take responsibility for managing project plans with input from subject matter experts and ensuring their successful delivery throughout the project life cycle. The postholder will drive working groups and meetings to facilitate identification of risks, interdependencies, and critical paths, and develop relevant mitigation plans alongside the PMO Lead, escalating where necessary to the Head of Health Informatics Programme Delivery and Technical Transformation Project Leads.

The successful candidate will work to build strong and meaningful relationships with key external stakeholders and have the ability to recognise and work to address the articulated and unarticulated needs of stakeholders, taking a holistic perspective when approaching challenges and decision‑making. You will collaborate with internal teams including IT, DevOps, data governance, and programme delivery leads to maintain project momentum and to ensure our deliverables are successfully met on time.

This post is based in our Cambridge office, with opportunities for hybrid working. Flexible working hours compatible with the role can be considered (including the possibility of working part time). There will be a requirement to attend some in‑person meetings both within the Eastern region and nationally.

We offer, in addition to a competitive salary, a pension scheme with up to 10% matching company contributions, access to an employee assistance programme, learning & development opportunities, and 27 days paid leave in addition to bank holidays.

We are committed to the employment and career development of people living with a disability. As part of this commitment, we operate a guaranteed interview scheme for applicants living with a disability who in the collective opinion of the selection panel meet the essential criteria for the role for which they have applied.

We really encourage applications from suitably qualified candidates, particularly from diverse backgrounds, so that we truly represent the rich diversity of our region.
