Job summary

Orion Electrotech in Burton upon Trent is seeking an experienced Senior Production / Manufacturing Engineer to own production test and development capability and drive continuous improvement across manufacturing operations.

This hands-on role focuses on test equipment, process improvement, fault-finding, and supporting introduction of new products into production, with a strong emphasis on automation, data capture, and technical support for electro-mechanical assembly.

Qualifications

• Extensive experience as Production/Manufacturing/Test Engineer.
• Strong fault-finding and troubleshooting in electro-mechanical systems.
• Experience maintaining and improving production test equipment.
• Ability to read engineering drawings and wiring diagrams.
• Hands-on approach with strong problem-solving skills.
• Willingness to drive due to site location.

Responsibilities

• Manage day-to-day operation of the production test laboratory.
• Maintain, troubleshoot, and improve production test equipment.
• Design/modify test rigs, fixtures, and tooling using CAD.
• Support root cause investigations and test-failure resolutions.
• Develop new test methods and improve existing processes.
• Support new product introduction and production readiness.
• Provide technical support for electro-mechanical assembly.
• Assist with automation, data capture, analysis, and continuous improvement.
• Create and maintain technical documentation and test procedures.
