Job summary

Primer is building the payments infrastructure for global platforms. In this second engineer hire for the ProdSec/AppSec team, you will own security strategy and architecture, deliver end-to-end security work, and partner closely with Cloud, Infra, and engineering teams to ship robust protections.

You’ll drive hands‑on reviews, automations, and threat research while shaping the AppSec roadmap and helping Primer scale securely as a remote-first, globally distributed company.

Qualifications

• Hands-on product security experience including security reviews or threat modelling.
• Ability to read and write code and build small automation tools.
• Strong risk judgment and clear reasoning for security decisions.
• Ability to plan and deliver work independently with mentorship.
• Effective communication with engineers who are not security specialists.

Responsibilities

• Conduct security reviews and threat modelling across Primer's product and infrastructure.
• Plan and deliver end-to-end security projects from design to rollout.
• Develop tooling and automation to accelerate future reviews.
• Coordinate penetration testing and track remediation to closure.
• Support recurring compliance work (SOC2, PCI) with evidence collection and remediation tracking.
