You will be a part of a multi-disciplined team that deliver innovative and high crafted experiences to our customers and colleagues; working collaboratively with other Product Designers, Service Designers, Design Researchers, Product Owners and Developers. You will understand how the products you are working on form part of a bigger picture for the customer experience and wider business strategy.
Day to day you'll be working with Design Leads and your product team to create, test and refine ideas. You'll be producing deliverables in a fast paced environment, with a focus on Lean delivery, in order to learn and iterate.
What's the job
As a Senior Product Designer, you will use your creative skills in the delivery of design solutions for a number of digital products and features, for a number of household name brands in the Kingfisher group. With an exciting remit, there is the opportunity to work on delivering industry leading features for complex journeys on a number of established digital products, from conception through to feature and component delivery.
- Can work collaboratively with inter-disciplinary teams to develop crafted customer experiences
- Apply conceptual thinking, combining user needs, business goals and technical realities
- Define the user experience through sketches, information architecture, wireframes and user flows
- Prototype concepts to help communicate approach and for validation through testing
- Communicate design rationale and approach, and how it relates to research findings, brand requirements and user needs
- Create light weight specifications and style guides to supplement designs / prototypes for delivery teams
- Work collaboratively with on-site and off-site teams to ensure that design specifications are implemented to standard
- Follow, contribute and maintain a shared component and pattern library to support feature reuse across Digital
- Participate in and contribute to design critiques and post project reviews
- Designing for mobile, tablet and desktop, including responsive websites using mobile first design techniques
- Understand and apply accessibility standards in everything you do
What you'll bring
- Industry experience designing user interface experiences for products that exist in the real world
- Consider how your work relates to the overall service proposition, ensuring the features and components you design are suitable, best in class and scalable
- Collaborate with other streams of work when relevant to ensure customer experiences are consistent
- Confident leading the entire design process from concept through to delivery
- Translate concepts into designs that illustrate simplicity despite system complexity
- Extensive knowledge in using design and prototyping tools (e.g. Figma, Sketch, Adobe CC, Abstract, io)
- Proficient in craft fundamentals (i.e. layout, visual hierarchy, colour, typography and iconography)
- Proficient in a variety of methods to convey ideas, and know what format is appropriate to audience (sketches, storyboards, wireframes, mock-ups, animations, interactive prototypes and user flows)
