Job summary

NWSSP Procurement Services in Nantgarw seeks an Assistant Head of Operational Procurement to lead the customer services and operational management within Local Procurement. You will ensure delivery of objectives, compliance with regulations, and drive continuous improvement across processes and systems.

The role requires MCIPS or equivalent, a postgraduate degree, and strong leadership and negotiation skills to manage teams and secure savings for NHS Wales.

Qualifications

• MCIPS qualification (Level 6) or equivalent professional procurement accreditation.
• Postgraduate degree (MA/MSc/MBA) or demonstrable equivalent experience.
• Experience in public procurement and contract management with a track record of delivering savings.
• Experience of people management and leading teams.
• Awareness of Provider Selection Regime (Wales).

Responsibilities

• Lead the customer services and operational management section of the Local Procurement department.
• Ensure Procurement Services meets operational and financial objectives while complying with procurement regulations.
• Provide vision and leadership for service improvements, ensuring systems, policies and processes support targets.
• Promote an inclusive, agile, and high‑performing procurement function with strong stakeholder engagement.
