Job summary

ARUP in the United Kingdom is seeking a process engineer with expertise in drinking water treatment to join a multidisciplinary water team, contributing from concept to FEED and detailed design for compliant, safe solutions.

Based in the North of England with international project exposure, you will coordinate disciplines, perform process audits, and develop feasibility studies and cost estimates for water treatment works.

Qualifications

• Strong knowledge of water chemistry and drinking water treatment processes, including membrane separation systems
• Experience in process design, including mass balances, P&IDs, and water treatment hydraulics
• Experience delivering process audits, feasibility studies, investigations, and outline/detailed design of drinking water treatment works
• Ability to develop client briefs, proposals, and presentations
• Collaborative approach, working effectively with colleagues, clients, and external partners
• Experience supporting and mentoring junior engineers and early careers staff (including line management where applicable)
• Degree in Engineering and Chartered Engineer status (or close to obtaining chartership) required

Responsibilities

• Coordinate the work of others and liaise with engineers of other disciplines within a gated design and project delivery process
• Responsible for process audits, investigations, feasibility studies, and the outline and detailed design of drinking water treatment works and associated systems
• Involved in report writing and the development of fee proposals and feasibility studies of plant operating and capital costs
• Apply practical understanding of how designs will be implemented and use digital approaches to solve problems
• Participate in IChemE-accredited graduate training and mentoring to shape the next generation of process engineers
