Job summary

Thermulon, a UK aerogel insulation company, seeks a Lead Process Engineer to own capital projects and drive scale-up from pilot to commercial production in London. The role is senior but hands-on, working with a small team and coordinating with third parties to transfer lab processes to full-scale production.

You will provide technical leadership, sign-off on design deliverables, ensure process safety in design, and mentor engineers while navigating high autonomy in a lean organisation.

Qualifications

• Significant hands-on chemical process experience with capital projects.
• Proven track record in process scale-up and technology transfer.
• Degree in Chemical or Process Engineering.
• Ability to mobilise to UK/Europe sites.
• Strong influencing skills without direct line management authority.

Responsibilities

• Own capital projects from concept to commissioning and handover.
• Lead core process engineering deliverables (PFDs, P&IDs, mass/energy balances).
• Drive HAZOP/HAZID/LOPA studies and MOC actions.
• Mentor and QA across the process engineering team.
• Interface with partners, vendors, and customers for technical input.
• Prepare techno-economic analyses of process plants and sign-off.
