Job summary

A leading engineering firm in the United Kingdom is seeking a Senior Process Engineer to lead the design and optimisation of processes across R&D and demonstration plants. This role combines technical delivery with mentoring, ideal for candidates with an MEng/MSc in Chemical Engineering and strong industrial experience in process engineering. Responsibilities include design activities, scale-up support, and fostering a safety culture among junior engineers.

Qualifications

• Strong industrial experience in process engineering and technology scale-up.
• Experience leading engineering workstreams and using process modelling tools.

Responsibilities

• Lead process design activities, including modelling, PFDs, P&IDs, and mass/energy balances.
• Develop and optimise catalytic conversion and separation processes.
• Translate lab and pilot data into scalable, commercially robust designs.
• Support technology scale-up from lab to demonstration scale.
• Lead and participate in HAZID/HAZOP and ensure strong process safety standards.
• Provide process input to techno-economic assessments and proposals.
• Mentor junior engineers and promote a strong safety and performance culture.
