Job summary

Sweco is seeking a Senior/Principal Wastewater Modeller based in Bristol. In this role, you will lead and deliver urban drainage modelling projects, ensuring quality control and mentoring junior modellers. You will work on innovative modelling projects that contribute to significant environmental outcomes in various public and private sectors.

The ideal candidate will have experience with Infoworks ICM and a strong understanding of GIS and water quality modelling. The position offers flexible working arrangements and potential for career progression within a supportive team environment.

Senior/Principal Wastewater Modeller (Urban Drainage) – Bristol
Flexible working: minimum 3 days per week in office with adjustable start and finish times.

What does the role involve?

Lead the delivery of a programme of urban drainage modelling work, including technical delivery, cost and programme management, and mentoring junior modellers. Contribute to transformative projects such as feasibility studies, model building, verification, surface water management plans, and development impact assessments.

Core Duties And Responsibilities

• Work within agreed deliverables, key milestones, project methodology, quality assurance and control strategy.
• Lead project delivery tasks and engage with clients’ technical teams.
• Provide technical guidance, support and training to less experienced colleagues.
• Develop modelling processes and create innovative modelling tools.
• Work on a range of different types of modelling projects for public and private sector clients.

To Be Successful In This Role You Will Have

• Experience in the model build and verification of integrated catchment models and/or solution development using Infoworks ICM.
• Experience of water quality modelling and/or undertaking UPM studies would be advantageous.
• Experience of GIS (e.g. ArcGIS or Mapinfo) and Infoworks ICM hydraulic modelling software is essential.
• Track record in mentoring team members less experienced in this field.
• Experience of managing projects and acting as technical discipline lead on urban drainage/sewage projects is advantageous.
• Experience in managing modelling teams from a commercial/financial perspective would be beneficial.
• Understanding of the market and interest in business development to expand client range would be welcomed.
• For the Principal role you must be chartered with an appropriate institute (eg ICE or CIWEM) or close to achieving chartered status.
