Job summary

AtkinsRéalis is seeking a Senior/Principal Structural Engineer to lead delivery of complex heavy civil structures for major nuclear and defence projects. You will guide design teams, ensure compliance with codes, and collaborate with clients and international delivery centres.

The role requires chartered status, a civil/structural engineering degree, and a track record in regulated environments, with strong leadership and stakeholder management skills.

Qualifications

• Degree-qualified in Civil or Structural Engineering with Chartered Engineer status.
• Proven experience in design and delivery of heavy civil structures in nuclear/defence or other highly regulated sectors.
• Strong expertise in reinforced concrete, structural steel, foundations, and/or underground structures.

Responsibilities

• Lead and coordinate teams of structural engineers across major nuclear & defence projects, ensuring safe, high-quality delivery.
• Provide technical leadership for heavy civil structural design including RC, steel, and foundations.
• Produce, review, and oversee calculations, reports, specifications, and drawings.
• Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams and international delivery centres to deliver integrated engineering solutions.
• Mentor and develop engineers and graduates to foster technical excellence.
