Senior/Principal Process Engineer, Essex
My client is recruiting for a Senior/Principal Process Engineer in the Water Sector. The role involves working on water and wastewater schemes with a project value of approximately £280M. You will report directly to the Regional Discipline Lead (Process) or the Senior Design Manager.
Key Responsibilities
- Produce high-quality process design documents and drawings, including process calculations, P&IDs, PFDs, and Control Philosophy, ensuring compliance with health & safety requirements, specifications, and standards.
- Ensure project compliance with regulations and client standards.
- Conduct and coordinate process safety studies.
- Coordinate design efforts with civil, mechanical, EICA, and environmental disciplines.
- Support other disciplines with process and safety input, fostering collaboration.
- Assist delivery, commissioning, and management teams with technical issues.
- Provide feedback to project leads.
- Develop cost-effective designs considering all aspects of project costs.
- Assist in the preparation of project deliverables at various design stages.
- Mentor graduates and support their development.
- Maintain project documentation and records.
- Promote a customer-focused culture within the team.
- Ensure health and safety requirements are integrated into the design.
Experience and Qualifications
- Knowledge of water, wastewater, reuse, and sludge treatment process design.
- Degree in Process or Chemical Engineering, preferably chartered or working towards it.
- Proven experience in process calculations such as mass and energy balances, hydraulic calculations.
- Ability to work clearly under pressure, be organized, and meet deadlines.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to rationalize designs economically.
