Job Description:

Join the Fusion and Modular Nuclear Business Unit! Lead, inspire, and shape the future of engineering! As the driving force behind the formation, leadership, and management of high-performing engineering teams, you will spearhead Front End Engineering Delivery for NNB major programmes. This pivotal role offers the opportunity to build and develop expert teams, drive technical excellence, and play a crucial part in delivering innovative, large-scale projects that will shape the energy landscape.

Your mission:

  • Leadership of the engineering activities – Lead and oversee all engineering activities, ensuring alignment with project goals and technical excellence.
  • Approvals for Safety and Functional Requirements – Review and approve critical safety and functional requirements to maintain compliance and operational integrity.
  • Leadership and demonstration of Design Packages in line with requirements – Guide the development and presentation of design packages, ensuring they meet all technical and regulatory standards.
  • Model-Based System Engineering oversight and sign-off – Provide expert oversight and final approval for Model-Based System Engineering (MBSE) processes and deliverables.
  • Preparation and sign-off of Technical Specifications – Develop, review, and approve technical specifications to ensure clarity, feasibility, and compliance.
  • Programme monitoring and reporting – Track project progress, generate reports, and ensure milestones are met efficiently and effectively.
  • Management of Risk and Opportunity – Identify, assess, and mitigate risks while proactively exploring opportunities for improvement and innovation.
  • Team development and management – Build, mentor, and lead a high-performing engineering team to achieve project success.
  • SQEPing of resources – Ensure Suitably Qualified and Experienced Personnel (SQEP) are in place to meet project demands and regulatory requirements.
  • Coaching and identifying training needs – Support continuous professional development by coaching team members and identifying necessary training programs.

Qualifications:

  • Experience in similar roles with specific emphasis on FEED through to detailed design
  • Experienced in leading and managing multi-disciplinary design teams
  • Able to define steam cycle modelling outcomes and oversee work undertaken
  • Ability to define budgets/work programmes for complete design project lifecycles
  • Proven ability in Front End Engineering solutions associated with NNB Conventional Island
  • Good understanding of relevant Regulations, ONR, Environment Agency, and HSE matters
  • Experience of Requirements Capture/Elicitation/Management
  • Model-Based System Engineering practitioner
  • Experience in managing sub-contracts and sub-contractors
  • CEng in a relevant discipline
  • SC Clearance or capable of achieving it

Due to the nature of work to be undertaken applicants will be required to meet certain residency criteria in order to attain a minimum level of UK security clearance if not already security cleared to a minimum SC level.
