Senior / Principal Mechanical Engineer – Data Centres

London or Bristol

We’re working with a leading multidisciplinary engineering consultancy that is continuing to expand its Data Centre and Critical Facilities capability across the UK and internationally.

As part of this growth, we’re looking to speak with experienced Senior and Principal Mechanical Engineers with a strong background in building services and ideally direct experience delivering data centre or other mission-critical environments.

Please note candidates will need to have an understanding of design within an MEP and/or Building Services environment.

This is a genuinely interesting opportunity to join an established multidisciplinary team delivering technically complex projects across the UK, Europe and wider international markets.

The Role

You’ll take a leading role in the mechanical design and delivery of major data centre projects, working across the full project lifecycle from early-stage feasibility and concept design through detailed design, construction support and commissioning.

Depending on your level, responsibilities will include:

• Leading mechanical design packages across complex data centre projects
• Developing and reviewing cooling, ventilation and associated mechanical systems
• Delivering resilient, energy-efficient and sustainable engineering solutions
• Considering PUE/WUE performance, resilience strategies and operational requirements
• Coordinating closely with electrical, structural, architectural, fire and specialist engineering teams
• Producing and reviewing technical specifications, calculations, models and design information
• Supporting projects through installation, testing and commissioning
• Managing technical resources and contributing to project planning and commercial performance
• Providing technical guidance and mentoring to junior engineersWorking directly with clients, contractors and wider project stakeholders

We’re interested in speaking with engineers who can demonstrate:

• A strong background in Mechanical Building Services Engineering
• Experience working on data centres, critical facilities or other mission-critical projects
• Strong knowledge of data centre cooling and mechanical infrastructure
• Experience across multiple stages of design and construction
• Understanding of resilience, redundancy and critical-system design principles
• Good multidisciplinary coordination and client-facing capability
• Degree qualification in Mechanical or Building Services Engineering
• Chartered status, or working towards Chartership, would be highly desirable
• Familiarity with Revit, IES, CFD or other relevant digital design tools would be beneficial
