Job summary

Pertemps Tm is seeking a Senior Electrical Design Engineer in Oxford to lead electrical building services projects from feasibility through to delivery. The role offers hybrid working and a collaborative team across the UK.

You will mentor junior engineers, manage projects, carry out surveys, produce designs and reports, and ensure QA across heritage, education, healthcare, and commercial sectors. A degree and 3–5 years' experience are required.

• Proficiency with electrical design software.

The Company

A growing, sustainability-led Building Services Consultancy is looking to appoint a Senior Electrical Design Engineer to join its Oxford office.

The consultancy delivers mechanical, electrical, sustainability, building physics and Passivhaus design services across a diverse range of projects including heritage, education, commercial, healthcare, hospitality, transport infrastructure, residential and public sector developments.

With a collaborative team of over 60 professionals across multiple UK offices, the business is recognised for delivering efficient, sustainable building services solutions that prioritise both environmental performance and occupant wellbeing. You'll work closely with colleagues across the wider business on technically challenging projects while benefiting from genuine opportunities for career progression.

The Role

As a Senior Electrical Design Engineer, you will play a key role in the delivery of electrical building services projects from feasibility through to completion.

Working closely with multidisciplinary teams, you'll take responsibility for managing projects, mentoring junior engineers and ensuring the successful delivery of high-quality electrical designs across a wide variety of sectors.

The role will include:

• Leading the design and delivery of electrical building services projects
• Carrying out project surveys and feasibility studies
• Producing electrical designs, calculations, specifications and technical reports
• Managing projects from concept through to handover
• Undertaking site inspections and supervising electrical services installations
• Providing contract administration support throughout project delivery
• Managing project programmes, workflows and key milestones
• Supervising, mentoring and supporting junior engineers and technicians
• Ensuring compliance with internal quality assurance procedures and industry standards
• Working closely with clients, architects, contractors and multidisciplinary design teams
• Assisting with fee proposals, project financial management and business development opportunities
• Collaborating with colleagues across multiple office locations

Requirements

The successful Senior Electrical Design Engineer will ideally have:

• A Degree in Electrical Engineering, Building Services Engineering or a related discipline
• 3-5 years' experience within electrical building services design
• Experience managing and mentoring junior engineers
• Experience delivering projects across multiple sectors
• Strong technical knowledge of electrical building services design
• Experience using relevant electrical design software
• AutoCAD experience
• Excellent communication and client-facing skills
• Strong organisational and project management abilities
• Good attention to detail
• Competent user of Microsoft Office
• Full UK driving licence and access to transport

Desirable experience includes

• Revit experience
• Experience with building services modelling software
• Knowledge of BIM processes and digital design workflows
