Job Description:

With over 40 years of experience in air quality, environmental, and sustainability issues, they are valued for their comprehensive services from evidence gathering to policy and implementation.

Your new role

They seek an experienced Terrestrial Ecologist at Senior or Principal level to support ecology projects across the UK and beyond, involving ecological assessments, surveys, and client consultation. Experience in PEA, EcIA, HRA, and biodiversity, including Biodiversity Net Gain, is advantageous.

  • Manage and implement ecological assessments, coordinate surveys, and support mitigation efforts.
  • Lead and mentor junior staff and manage projects as appropriate.
  • Engage in diverse tasks within terrestrial ecology and related disciplines.
What you'll need to succeed
  • Deep knowledge of UK and EU wildlife legislation, policies, and survey techniques.
  • Experience leading PEA, EcIA, HRA, and understanding of WRMP options.
  • Experience with large infrastructure or development projects.
  • Proven ability to lead surveys, analyze results, and plan mitigation.
  • Multiple protected species licenses (preferably in England and Wales).
  • Experience in applying for and managing protected species licenses.
  • Strong report writing skills, including HRA stages and Environmental Statements.
  • Successful project management track record.
  • Experience in preparing proposals and tenders.
  • Chartered member of a professional body (CEnv or CEcol) and membership of CIEEM.
  • Excellent communication, organization, and multitasking skills.
  • Fieldwork skills complemented by office-based coordination and report writing.

  • Mentoring junior colleagues.
  • Client relationship management.
  • Bidding and project budget management.
  • Collaboration with multidisciplinary teams.
