We have an opportunity for an experienced Senior/Principal/Associate Geotechnical Engineer based in our Glasgow, Edinburgh, Belfast, Manchester or Leeds offices to support our rapidly expanding workload and our exciting portfolio of prestigious geotechnical projects both in the UK and internationally.

We need to increase our team to meet the growing demands from our clients, especially in the infrastructure sector (particularly rail, highways & water) and the energy sector, which includes carbon capture & storage, renewable energy (wind, current and hydropower), low carbon engineering, offshore and onshore oil & gas, and nuclear power.

Requirements:

• The successful applicant will be a senior/principal geotechnical engineer with proven technical and project management experience. Mentoring junior engineers is part of the role, so good communication skills are essential.
• Degree in civil engineering or geology with postgraduate qualification in geotechnics, and chartered status as a civil engineer or geologist.
• Ability to develop and expand our infrastructure geotechnics capability across sectors.

Candidates should have:

• Extensive experience in sectors like highways, rail, or water geotechnics.
• Strong academic background, preferably MSc or higher.
• Chartered status.
• Experience as a senior/principal geotechnical engineer in a fast-paced consultancy.
• Project management skills, including client relationships, work planning, and commercial management.
• Proven geotechnical design experience.
• Knowledge of CDM Regulations in design and ground investigation.
• Excellent interpersonal, technical, and leadership skills.
• Strong communication skills to liaise confidently with clients.
• Successful track record in negotiating and managing projects.
• Excellent report writing and self-checking skills.
• Willingness to travel within the UK and overseas.
• Valid UK driving license.
