Job summary

Protect Group is seeking a Senior Data Scientist to lead pricing optimization and ML initiatives in a hybrid Leeds setting. You will design models, run experiments and deploy production systems that influence revenue and conversion across many partners.

You will contribute to broader ML work including risk modelling and automation, collaborating with Commercial, Finance and Product teams while mentoring others and shaping technical direction.

Qualifications

• At least five years' experience in data science or ML with responsibility for models in production.
• Strong Python and SQL, production-quality code, testing and code review.
• Expert in pricing, revenue optimisation or commercially focused models.
• Experience with cloud ML platforms - Azure ML, Functions or Blob Storage.
• Experience building agentic, graph-based workflows and AI-enabled systems.
• Ability to translate business problems into deployed, measurable solutions.

Responsibilities

• Own the development and continuous improvement of production pricing models.
• Turn pricing opportunities into testable hypotheses, experiments and production changes.
• Evaluate pricing performance through backtesting and online experiments.
• Develop Bayesian, multi-armed bandit and other optimisation approaches for pricing.
• Collaborate with commercial, finance and product teams to interpret pricing performance and decide actions.
• Build risk models and agentic systems that support pricing and refunds where beneficial.
• Apply offline and online evaluation to all models and decisions.
• Ship reliable models via reproducible training pipelines and versioned artefacts.
• Mentor teammates and raise technical standards through reviews and patterns.
