Job summary

Sompo International is seeking a Pricing Actuary to join our UK Insurance Pricing team in London. You will become the lead pricing contact for key lines within Financial Lines, collaborating with underwriters and analysts to deliver robust, data‑driven insights and pricing decisions.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or master's degree in Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Statistics, or a related field.
• Qualified or progressing towards qualification with the Institute & Faculty of Actuaries or similar actuarial body.
• A minimum of 5 years of experience in the commercial insurance industry (pricing role).
• Experience leading case pricing work and communicating findings to underwriting teams.
• Strong Excel, SQL; knowledge of R and Python is an advantage.

Responsibilities

• Become the lead pricing contact for your assigned lines of business, managing day-to-day relationships with the underwriting team.
• Lead the individual account pricing providing actuarial analysis on complex open market cases and review of delegated business.
• Assist in data collection, analysis and validation for actuarial modelling and calculations; mentor juniors.
• Support in developing pricing models for new areas of business written by the Underwriting team and update models through reparameterisation.
• Apply pricing techniques to analyses and prepare presentations for management and underwriters.
• Lead the business planning process with the lead Pricing Actuary and underwriters to articulate plans and rationale.
• Identify growth opportunities by working with underwriting to understand the portfolio vs market.
• Develop tools for monitoring and reporting rate changes and adequacy.
• Complete risk audits to ensure models are used correctly and results reasonable.
• Research industry developments and trends affecting Sompo.
• Other ad hoc duties as required.
