Job summary

Prime Appointments Ltd Brentwood area is seeking an experienced Press Toolmaker to join a close-knit team. The role focuses on tooling, quality control and production support, with a salary up to £60,000.

The candidate will design, manufacture and repair tooling, operate mills and lathes, read drawings and diagnose faults to maintain production flow. A recognised toolmaking apprenticeship is preferred.

Qualifications

• Recognised toolmaking apprenticeship and press toolmaking experience.
• Competent in conventional machining and interpreting engineering drawings.
• Strong fault-finding, problem-solving and quality inspection skills.
• Self-motivated, organised and able to work independently or in a small team.
• Knowledge of hydraulics and pneumatics is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Design and manufacture piercing and forming tools, punches, dies, jigs and fixtures.
• Maintain and repair tooling to minimise production downtime.
• Operate universal mills, centre lathes and surface grinders.
• Read engineering drawings and work to tolerances.
• Diagnose machinery faults and support production planning.
• Inspect components, maintain quality records and implement improvements.
• Develop tooling solutions and document processes.
