Job summary

Prime Appointments Recruitment Agency in Brentwood, Essex, is helping a family-run manufacturer find an experienced Press Toolmaker to join a close-knit team on a permanent, on-site basis.

You will design, manufacture and maintain piercing and forming tools, reading engineering drawings and supporting production with reliable tooling solutions. Salary up to 60k, 28 days’ holiday, and a collaborative environment are on offer.

Qualifications

• Recognised toolmaking apprenticeship.
• Proven experience in press toolmaking.
• Competent in conventional machining and engineering drawing interpretation.
• Strong fault-finding, problem-solving and quality inspection skills.
• Knowledge of hydraulics and pneumatics is advantageous.
• Self-motivated, organised and able to work independently or within a small team.

Responsibilities

• Design and manufacture piercing and forming tools, punches, dies, jigs and fixtures.
• Maintain and repair tooling to minimise production downtime.
• Operate universal mills, centre lathes and surface grinders.
• Read engineering drawings and work to specified tolerances.
• Diagnose machinery faults and support production planning.
• Inspect components, maintain quality records and implement improvements.
• Develop tooling solutions and document manufacturing processes.
