Job description

Thank you for your interest in the position of Senior Practitioner within Older People Social Work Service, which is part of Fife Health and Social Care Partnership.

Amongst the larger Health and Social Care Partnerships in Scotland, we deliver a significant range of delegated services for a population of around 370,000 across the Kingdom of Fife. We are rooted in the communities and localities we serve and are driven by our vision to improve outcomes for our population by developing integrated health and social services delivered through our highly talented and committed workforce and close collaborative working with our partners in the Independent and Voluntary Sector. Being co-terminus with both NHS Fife and Fife Council, being part of Fife Health and Social Care Partnership offers an excellent opportunity to deliver a whole system “Team Fife” approach.

We are a forward-thinking organisation constantly seeking to deliver high performance and the outcomes of integration with a focus on quality, person-centred care, and sustainable services. This 36-hour post is based within Brunton House, Cowdenbeath. We are looking for one Senior Practitioner to join our team to provide leadership, supervise/support staff development, assist the team manager with core operational tasks, and be involved in delivering responsive assessments to the public underpinned by social work values and principles.

The Person

  1. Is passionate, skilled, innovative, and people-centred.
  2. Has a high standard of written work able to demonstrate analysis or synthesis of complex information.
  3. Is confident in knowledge of legislative frameworks.
  4. Is a skilled communicator with an ability to show leadership in practice.
  5. Has experience of supervision, coaching, or mentoring colleagues.
  6. Has a sound knowledge of risk and can demonstrate enabling practice in relation to this.
  7. Ideally, has experience working with older people and insight into the challenges and opportunities this work provides.
The Essential Qualifications for This Post

You will be a qualified Social Worker (holding a BA (Hons) Social Work or MSc in Social Work), with extensive experience of working within statutory frameworks supporting adults in the community. You will hold an accredited post-qualifying award or be willing to work towards it within the first 2 years of appointment.

As this role requires SSSC registration, the successful applicant will have three months to apply for registration. You must start your application as soon as possible to be registered within the required six months. Further details are included in the role profile.

The ability to travel throughout Fife is a requirement.
