Job summary

Essex County Council in Colchester is seeking a Senior Practitioner for the Children & Families HUB. The role leads a team, mentors social workers, and ensures timely Early Help and triage delivery within statutory timescales.

You will model systemic, relationship-based social work and build partnerships with internal teams and partners to improve outcomes for children and families in Essex.

Qualifications

• Qualified social worker with current registration with Social Work England.
• Evidence of continuing professional development aligned to relevant frameworks.
• Significant up-to-date experience across social work practice and legislation.
• Experience mentoring students and staff, and chairing multi-agency meetings.

Responsibilities

• Provide expert supervision and professional guidance to social workers and staff.
• Work within statutory frameworks to determine thresholds for intervention.
• Maintain oversight of Requests for Support within local timescales.
• Build strong partnerships across the Council and external agencies.
• Deliver high-level expertise in key practice areas and drive development.
