Job summary

Xpert Recruitment Solutions Limited in Stoke-on-Trent is seeking a dependable Senior Accountant for a hands-on role in an established accountancy practice. You will prepare year-end accounts, VAT returns and Self Assessment tax returns, across a varied client portfolio, and review work done by junior colleagues.

The ideal candidate has solid practice experience, a methodical approach, and can manage deadlines independently while maintaining high standards.

Qualifications

• Solid experience in an accountancy practice, preparing accounts for sole traders, partnerships and limited companies.
• Good working knowledge of VAT, Self Assessment and corporation tax.
• Careful eye for detail and ability to spot inconsistencies before they become problems.
• Steady, organised approach to managing deadlines and a varied workload.
• Confidence reviewing figures and checking work prepared by others.
• Helpful, approachable manner when supporting junior colleagues.
• Ability to work independently and deliver consistently good work.

Responsibilities

• Prepare year-end accounts for a varied client portfolio.
• Compute corporation tax and prepare VAT returns.
• Handle Self Assessment tax returns and ensure compliance.
• Review work done by junior colleagues for accuracy and consistency.
