Job summary

Gordon Murray Group seeks a Principal Engineer – Powertrain to lead the Powertrain function across Gordon Murray Automotive programmes, delivering design, development, calibration and global regulatory certification for ultra-low-volume, high‑performance powertrain systems. You will own technical leadership and drive regulatory compliance, supplier management and R&D activities.

The role requires managing an engineering team, aligning BoM, mass, specs and testing to meet niche production volumes

Qualifications

• 10–12 years' experience in high-performance Powertrain engineering.
• 3–5 years' leadership in low-volume OEM, motorsport or aerospace.
• Proven EPA/CARB SVM certification and EU/UK Small Series experience.

Responsibilities

• Lead Powertrain design, development and integration across programmes.
• Drive regulatory compliance and certification strategies (EPA/CARB, EU, UK).
• Oversee EMS calibration, exhaust aftertreatment and emissions testing.
• Manage BoM, mass, design releases, and DFMEA/DVP inputs.
