Job summary

Peaple Talent is seeking a Senior Power Electronics Engineer to lead the design and verification of high‑voltage power supplies for critical infrastructure and defence, in the UK. You will drive projects from concept through prototyping to production introduction with hands-on HV topology expertise.

You will mentor junior engineers, collaborate with production and suppliers, and own detailed design records and test plans to ensure robust, reliable power conversion solutions.

Qualifications

• Degree in Electronic, Electrical, or Power Electronics Engineering.
• Substantial background in high-voltage power supply design (topologies, insulation, creepage/clearance, and safety).
• Hands-on experience with component selection, prototype debugging, and design verification.
• Strong analytical, documentation, and technical leadership skills.

Responsibilities

• Design HV power supplies, power conversion systems, and magnetics.
• Develop new products using schematic capture, PCB layout (KiCAD or equivalent), and simulation tools.
• Execute testing, verification, and fault-finding on prototype equipment.
• Produce detailed design records, BOMs, calculations, and technical reports.
• Collaborate with Production, Quality, Procurement, and customers.
• Provide technical leadership and mentor junior engineers.

We are recruiting for a Senior Power Electronics Engineer to join a leading manufacturer of high-voltage power supplies, leading the design and verification of complex power conversion systems. The role covers everything from concept architecture through to prototyping, testing, and production introduction.

You’ll lead complete engineering projects, developing high-voltage power supplies, analogue/digital circuits, and magnetics for critical infrastructure and defence. If you’re looking for genuine technical ownership across the full product lifecycle, this is a fantastic opportunity.

Key Responsibilities

• Design HV power supplies, power conversion systems, and magnetics
• Develop new products using schematic capture, PCB layout (KiCAD or equivalent), and simulation tools

Key Requirements

• Degree, HND/HNC, or equivalent in Electronic, Electrical, or Power Electronics Engineering

• Must hold British Citizenship and be eligible for BPSS security screening
