Job summary

iO Associates is seeking a Senior PostgreSQL Support Engineer / DBA for a fully remote contract role across Europe. You will own critical PostgreSQL environments, resolve incidents, optimize performance, and drive high availability for enterprise clients.

The role requires extensive PostgreSQL experience, production-level DBA skills, and proficiency with cloud databases and tooling. Remote work across Europe is supported.

Qualifications

• Extensive PostgreSQL production administration experience.
• Strong expertise in performance tuning, replication, and backups.
• Experience with cloud-managed PostgreSQL services (RDS/Aurora, Azure).

Responsibilities

• Investigate and resolve advanced PostgreSQL incidents and performance bottlenecks.
• Optimise queries, indexes, and workloads for peak efficiency.
• Manage high availability, failover, replication, and DR strategies.
• Perform upgrades, patching, backups, restorations, and PITR procedures.
• Support migrations, including Oracle-to-PostgreSQL transitions.
• Document root-cause analyses and solutions clearly.
• Collaborate with enterprise clients and engineering teams.
• Ensure PostgreSQL in production is well maintained.
