Job summary

BFI, the UK's lead body for film and the moving image, is seeking a Senior Policy Advisor on a fixed-term contract until 19 July 2027, 41 hours per week.

The role will lead policy development, coordinate responses to government initiatives, and build strong relationships with government, industry and political stakeholders. You will work with Policy & Public Affairs to develop policy positions and contribute to Spending Review 2027.

Qualifications

  • Experience in policy making, government or regulatory environment.
  • Understanding of the UK screen sector and the wider cultural and creative industries.
  • Experience building and delivering evidence-based policy positions and advocating with stakeholders.
  • Experience developing and maintaining relationships with internal and external stakeholders.

Responsibilities

  • Work with Policy & Public Affairs to develop and deliver policy positions that support the work of the BFI and the wider screen sectors.
  • Lead on preparation and evidencing of proposals ahead of Spending Review 2027, coordinating with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Lead on development of BFI responses to Government policy consultations and Parliamentary inquiries.
  • Develop collaborative relationships with contacts across Government departments and devolved governments and other key stakeholders.

Fixed-term contract until 19 July 2027,41 hours a week (including 1 hour lunch break)

The Senior Policy Advisor will support the delivery of the BFI’s policy agenda across its roles as a cultural charity, National Lottery distributor and the UK Government’s lead body for film and the moving image.

The role will lead on a range of policy areas, working with internal experts to develop policy positions and provide advice to government, industry and political stakeholders. You will coordinate responses to key government initiatives, contribute to strategic funding and policy proposals, and help maintain strong relationships with the Department.
