Job summary

Kybera is seeking a Senior Point Cloud Specialist to lead the development, integration and optimisation of our LiDAR and 3D perception capabilities for industrial autonomous systems. You’ll combine classical point-cloud processing with DNN-based methods, targeting reliable performance in real-world environments.

You will define roadmaps, architect perception pipelines, and drive rapid prototyping to transform ideas into robust, handover-ready solutions, collaborating closely with engineering

Qualifications

• Significant experience in point-cloud processing, LiDAR SLAM, 3D geometry or a closely related field at senior/lead level.
• Strong knowledge and practical experience of DNN-based point cloud models for real-time applications.
• Deep production-grade C++ expertise alongside strong Python skills.
• Excellent understanding of point cloud registration, segmentation, surface reconstruction and large-scale 3D data structures.
• Strong prototyping skills and ability to quickly test, evaluate and de-risk new ideas.
• Experience solving complex perception problems where performance and reliability matter.
• Strong communication skills to work across multidisciplinary engineering teams.

Responsibilities

• Define and evolve the technical roadmap for point-cloud-based perception, spanning classical processing and DNN-based 3D perception approaches.
• Architect and develop perception pipelines for object detection, classification, segmentation and tracking.
• Develop and evaluate modern DNN-based point cloud models (voxel, pillar, range-view, BEV, sparse-convolution, transformers).
• Design and optimise real-time LiDAR and 3D perception systems for latency, compute and memory constraints.
• Develop preprocessing techniques: filtering, clustering, ground removal, motion compensation, coordinate-frame handling.
• Improve perception performance in challenging real-world conditions including occlusion and adverse weather.
• Collaborate with mapping/localisation teams on registration, alignment and perception-map interfaces.
• Prototype and de-risk new approaches for robust handover to component-owning teams.
