Job summary

Rail Delivery Group is seeking a Senior PMO Analyst to join the Portfolio Delivery Office in London. You will support individual projects and programmes and contribute to portfolio-wide governance, reporting, and data management.

The role requires strong PMO experience, advanced Excel, and Smartsheet proficiency, with a proactive, collaborative approach to delivering accurate reporting and governance outputs.

Qualifications

• Smartsheet experience or willingness to learn (backed by PMO/reporting software experience).
• Experience planning, tracking and reporting on project financials.
• Advanced Excel skills.
• Previous PMO experience in portfolio or large programme setting.
• A relevant PMO or project management qualification.

Responsibilities

• Assist with planning, tracking and monitoring projects to meet deadlines and budgets.
• Prepare status reports, dashboards and meeting minutes for senior stakeholders.
• Review and organise project documentation for accuracy and quality.
• Coordinate meetings, track actions and support delivery teams daily.
• Manage schedules, dashboards and RAID data for accurate reporting.
• Carry out financial and resource planning and related reporting.
• Help managers prepare for governance activities and stage gates.
• Contribute to Smartsheet maintenance for project, programme and portfolio management.

What is the purpose of this job?

We are looking for a highly skilled Senior PMO Analyst to join our Portfolio Delivery Office. The role will support individual projects and programmes and also work portfolio-wide on some areas.

What can I expect to do in this job?

This isn’t an exhaustive list, but things you can expect to lead and be involved with include:

• Assisting withplanning, tracking, and monitoringprojects to ensure deadlines and budgets are met.
• Preparingstatus reports, dashboards, and meeting minutesto keep senior stakeholders informed.
• Reviewing and organisingproject documentationto ensure accuracy and quality.
• Coordinating meetings, tracking actions, and supporting delivery teams with day-to-day activities.
• Managing schedules, dashboards, and RAID (Risks, Assumptions, Issues, Dependencies) data to ensure accurate reporting and effective decision-making.
• Carrying outfinancial and resource planning and trackingto ensure projects have the people and funding they need, and that related reporting is of a professional standard.
• Helping project / programme managers prepare for stage gate reviews and other governance activities.
• Completing regular status reports to RDG standards.
• Contributing to the PMO’s management and maintenance of Smartsheet for project, programme and portfolio management and help build own expertise and that of others.

What experience, skills and knowledge do I need?

Essential

• Smartsheet experience or willingness to learn (backed by experience of other project management / reporting software) and become certified.
• Experience of planning, tracking and reporting on project financials.
• Advanced Excel skills.

• A relevant PMO or project management qualification.
• A pro-active, collaborative mindset.

Desirable

• Experience as a Project Manager.
• Advanced SharePoint skills.
