Job summary

Trinity Technical and Engineering is recruiting a Senior PLC Controls Engineer to join its established automation division and deliver end-to-end control solutions across the UK.

The role combines hands-on design, programming and on-site commissioning, with opportunities to own projects and build a team as the department expands its in-house capabilities. Travel across the UK will be required as projects demand.

Qualifications

• Strong Siemens PLC programming experience.
• A solid electrical engineering background with control panels understanding.
• Experience designing, developing and modifying PLC programs.
• A good understanding of industrial automation and control systems.
• Confidence communicating technical information to customers.
• Ability to manage projects from design to on-site commissioning.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop and modify PLC programs for industrial automation systems.
• Program PLCs using Siemens, Allen-Bradley Rockwell, Mitsubishi and Codesys platforms.
• Develop control systems using Ladder Logic, Structured Text (ST), Function Block Diagram (FBD) and SCL.
• Design and programming SCADA and HMI applications, including Siemens WinCC, Ignition and FactoryTalk View.
• Develop bespoke industrial software applications and internal tools using C++, C# and Visual Basic.
• Work with electrical control panels and understand their design, operation and integration with PLC systems.
• Install, test, commissioning and fault-finding control systems at customer sites.
• Reverse engineer existing systems to support replacement, upgrades and redevelopment.
• Produce technical documentation and providing system training where required.
• Manage projects independently, taking responsibility for technical delivery and maintaining strong client relationships.
• Contribute to the development of the wider engineering team as the business expands its in-house capabilities.
