Job summary

Wickes is seeking a Senior Platform Engineer to design, build, and maintain our multi-cloud infrastructure across Google Cloud Platform and AWS. You will lead cloud architecture, automate pipelines, and drive security and reliability across platforms.

You will mentor engineers, champion Platform as a Product, and contribute to governance, cost optimisation, and operational excellence within an enterprise cloud environment.

Qualifications

• 5+ years hands-on experience designing, deploying, and managing GCP infrastructure, with demonstrable AWS experience.
• 5+ years experience with Terraform for multi-provider deployments (GCP and AWS).
• CI/CD pipelines experience with GitLab CI/CD or Jenkins.
• Scripting in Python, Bash, or Go.
• Docker and managed Kubernetes engines (GKE and EKS).
• Observability tools experience (Datadog).
• Strong understanding of multi-cloud networking and IAM/SAML/OIDC security concepts.

Responsibilities

• Design, implement, and operate highly available, secure, and scalable infrastructure using IaC (Terraform) and machine images (Packer).
• Provide deep technical leadership across GCP and AWS, guiding cloud architecture and operations.
• Optimize multi-cloud resource utilisation and FinOps while maintaining reliability.
• Lead CI/CD pipeline development and management across multi-cloud delivery paths with GitLab CI/CD or Jenkins.
• Implement robust networking and security integration across GCP and AWS environments.
• Build and maintain observability and SRE practices with Datadog, CloudWatch, and related tools.
• Create and maintain documentation for infrastructure and processes in Confluence.
