Job summary

Santander UK is seeking a Senior Platform Engineer to lead the design, implementation and maintenance of complex IT platforms from Milton Keynes/Glasgow. You’ll provide technical leadership to platform engineers and partner with cross-functional teams to deliver platform projects.

Qualifications

• Extensive experience in designing, implementing, and supporting large-scale IT infrastructure and platform environments.
• Proven track record of leading complex technology projects and platform engineering initiatives.
• Strong experience in incident management, including ownership of major incidents and driving root cause resolution.
• Demonstrated experience in capacity planning, performance optimisation, and infrastructure scalability.
• Experience providing technical leadership, mentoring engineers, and guiding engineering best practices.

Responsibilities

• Lead IT infrastructure design and resource planning to support new projects and initiatives.
• Provide high-level strategic guidance for the infrastructure function underpinning the IT estate.
• Plan and deliver capacity and performance improvements to meet current and future requirements.
• Lead incident response and drive root cause analysis to minimise downtime.
• Oversee vendor and third-party management, including performance oversight and contracts.
