Job summary

Santander is seeking a Senior Platform Engineer to lead the design, implementation and maintenance of complex technology platforms from Milton Keynes and Glasgow. You will mentor platform engineers, drive initiatives, and collaborate with cross‑functional teams to ensure reliable IT services across the organisation.

You will guide incident management, capacity planning and performance optimisation while engaging with senior stakeholders to shape roadmaps and governance.

Qualifications

• Extensive experience in designing, implementing and supporting large-scale IT infrastructure and platform environments.
• Proven track record of leading complex platform projects.
• Strong experience in incident management and RCA.
• Capacity planning, performance optimisation and scalability.
• Experience providing technical leadership and mentoring engineers.
• Experience working with cross-functional teams and senior stakeholders.
• Knowledge of Agile delivery methodologies and governance.

Responsibilities

• Leading IT infrastructure work and resource planning for new projects.
• Advising IT leadership on strategic priorities for infrastructure.
• Plan capacity, deliver services, ensure SLA targets.
• Participate in incident response and minimise downtime.
• Manage contracts and monitor vendor performance.
• Oversee budget and large-scale platform estates.
