Job summary

Maplecroft, part of Verisk, seeks a Senior Platform Engineering Technical Lead to shape and evolve cloud platforms powering risk analytics products. You will lead a distributed infra team across the UK and India, with a strong emphasis on AWS-based platforms and open-source tooling.

This role combines hands-on coding with strategic direction, guiding architectural decisions and platform modernisation while partnering with risk and security teams.

Qualifications

• Essential: 5 years' experience on customer-facing cloud platforms.
• Essential: Strong hands-on AWS expertise across multiple accounts/regions (IaaS, PaaS, SaaS).
• Essential: Experience with AWS CDK/CloudFormation and OpenTofu including troubleshooting.
• Essential: Experience building/operating serverless AWS architectures for production data workloads.
• Essential: Experience designing multi-region, highly available platforms with DR planning.
• Essential: Strong AWS IAM understanding and GitHub Actions OIDC federation.
• Essential: Professional development in Python.
• Essential: Excellent code review capabilities and willingness to mentor.

Responsibilities

• Own the GRiD cloud platform end-to-end including resilience and DR.
• Serve as senior escalation point for complex infrastructure issues.
• Lead transition from GRiD to GRiD 2 with cross-team collaboration.
• Shape platform strategy, tooling, and engineering best practices across AWS CDK/OpenTofu.
• Partner with Information Risk Officer to identify and remediate vulnerabilities.
• Remain hands-on with coding, reviews, and problem solving as needed.
• Drive innovation through prototyping, self-service infra, and tooling improvements.
• Support agile delivery and contribute to shared support rota.
• Lead, mentor, and develop a distributed team of infra engineers.
