Job summary

Trainline is seeking a Senior Platform Engineer to join the Atlas team in a hybrid role. You will deliver scalable and secure infrastructure using Terraform and AWS, while building automation in Node.js or Python and mentoring peers.

We value independent problem solving, collaboration across teams, and a strong focus on security, reliability and automation in a large-scale cloud environment. Hybrid work from our London-area offices is supported.

Qualifications

• Strong experience with AWS services such as ECS, Lambda, IAM or CloudFront.
• Proven experience delivering infrastructure changes using Terraform.
• Ability to work independently on complex platform engineering problems while collaborating with others.
• Experience using Node.js or Python for automation.
• Good understanding of secure cloud design including least privilege.
• Experience using AI tooling to support engineering work.
• A track record of delivering outcomes in agile delivery-focused teams.
• Helpful experience with multi-account or multi-region AWS management, CDN, WAF or enterprise-scale environments.

Responsibilities

• Deliver complex improvements to Trainline’s engineering platforms to enable scalable, reliable infrastructure.
• Implement and evolve infrastructure changes using Terraform with maintainability in mind.
• Apply least-privilege and secure-by-default practices across AWS accounts.
• Build automation scripts using Node.js or Python to enable faster, safer delivery.
• Support and review mid-level engineers, giving feedback and guidance.
• Collaborate with Tech Leads, Delivery Managers and stakeholders to plan and execute milestones.
• Identify risks early and help unblock delivery in a sustainable way.
• Test, validate and deploy changes through CI/CD pipelines with robust documentation.
