Trainline is seeking a Senior Platform Engineer to join the Atlas Infrastructure Engineering and Tooling Team. You will deliver complex improvements to scalable, secure infrastructure across AWS, implement IaC with Terraform, and advance automation in Node.js or Python.

You will guide peers, shape delivery plans and monitor risks in a hybrid UK environment. Ideal candidates have strong software engineering experience, proficiency in Python/Node.js/C#, and hands-on AWS with CI/CD.

Qualifikationen

• Substantial professional experience as a software engineer, writing code in Python, Node.js, C# or a similar programming language.
• A solid knowledge of software engineering best practice, with a focus on writing clean, maintainable and testable code.
• Hands-on experience with AWS services such as ECS, Lambda, CloudFront, IAM and S3, applying operational and security best practice.
• A history of delivering infrastructure with Terraform or another infrastructure as code tool.
• A confident understanding of DevOps practices and CI/CD, for example using GitHub Actions.
• Experience using AI tooling in your day-to-day work, for example for coding, code review, research and productivity.
• Experience of delivering results in agile, delivery-focused teams, and ideally of supporting colleagues through reviews and feedback.
• A curious mindset and the ability to pick up new technologies quickly and apply them effectively.

Aufgaben

• Deliver complex improvements to Trainline's engineering platforms, building scalable, reliable and secure infrastructure that supports teams across the business.
• Implement and evolve infrastructure with Terraform, following existing module patterns while spotting opportunities to improve quality, maintainability and automation.
• Apply least-privilege and secure-by-default principles consistently across our AWS accounts, ensuring our infrastructure meets Trainline's standards for security and operational excellence.
• Build and improve automation, services and tooling in Node.js or Python to make delivery faster, safer and more repeatable.
• Support and review the work of other engineers, sharing context and giving constructive feedback so they can deliver with confidence.
• Work with Tech Leads, Delivery Managers and cross-functional stakeholders to shape delivery plans, meet milestones and manage dependencies.
• Raise risks, blockers and quality concerns early, helping to remove obstacles for the team and keep delivery moving at a sustainable pace.
• Test, validate and deploy infrastructure changes through CI/CD (continuous integration and continuous delivery) pipelines, making sure everything is robust, well documented and ready for production.
