Job summary

Anglian Water seeks a senior engineering leader to shape and deliver the platform strategy across hybrid infrastructure, cloud technologies, and automation-driven practices.

You will lead SRE, drive DevOps, coordinate with Architecture, Security and Product teams, manage engineering managers, and foster high-performing teams while reducing toil and enabling self-healing, scalable digital infrastructure.

Qualifications

• Experience leading platform, infra or cloud engineering teams.
• Experience managing engineering managers.
• Strong understanding of hybrid infra and cloud tech.
• Experience improving operational resilience and service reliability.
• Knowledge of DevOps, SRE and IaC principles.
• Influence across technical and business teams.
• Certifications such as Azure, AWS, ITIL or SRE desirable.
• Degree in technology or computing desirable.

Responsibilities

• Lead platform strategy and delivery by defining and managing the hybrid infrastructure roadmap.
• Balance in-house and managed service capabilities.
• Embed automation-first and resilient design.
• Develop relationships with Architecture, Security and Product teams and strategic technology partners.
• Oversee Site Reliability Engineering, uptime, performance and proactive observability.
• Reduce operational risk and toil and enable self-healing platforms.
• Lead, coach and develop high-performing teams.
• Build capability across the function.
• Drive DevOps, automation and modern cloud engineering practices.
• Identify opportunities to reduce cost and complexity.
• Foster a culture of learning, experimentation and safe challenge.
• Shape Anglian Water’s digital infrastructure across platforms and networks.
