The senior planning manager establishes and maintains the overall time plan for the Euston project and monitors and reports performance against it.

- You will manage the delivery of key assignments and defined business areas, providing strategic direction and monitoring delivery aligned with overall vision and objectives.
- You will support the long-term success of planning performance for specified engines/sectors/hubs, and the overall contribution to the broader company goals.
- You will support the planning function in ensuring projects and tenders are effectively planned, scheduled, and monitored.
- Prepare and maintain a robust and realistic integrated master schedule for the Euston project highlighting critical milestones relating to key activities, deliverables and interfaces.
- Clarify and maintain the visibility of programme interface requirements and dependencies; ensure that responsibilities for the management of interfaces are clearly assigned and understood.
- Collate regular and ad-hoc reports for the project SLT to provide a timely overview of programme time performance on an exception basis.
- Develop and present regular forecasts of anticipated milestone achievements and use EVA techniques to measure trends and maintain an up-to-date view of the expected completion date for the project as a whole; recommend project level actions where appropriate to mitigate potential time over-runs.
- Provide advice and guidance to the project delivery team in the reviewing and challenging where appropriate sub-contractors’ programmes.
- Ensure that adequate, time provision is included in individual project schedules to allow for overall programme integration.
- Ensure the effective management of the time contingency built into the programme for programme level risks to ensure that contingency allowances reflect the current programme position.
- Establish programme level commissioning and testing schedules taking account of project interfaces and planned completion schedules.
- Ensure consistency of planning techniques and the use of common WBS at all levels of the project.

You’ll need to have:
- Expert knowledge of construction techniques methods and durations.
- Very strong understanding of techniques for project planning control and other facets of project control.
- Expert knowledge of Primavera and similar planning software.
- Strong knowledge of integrated project planning.
- Expert knowledge of EVA techniques.
- Strong team leader.
- Strong attention to detail and the ability to “deep dive” into planning.
- Comfortable with presenting at senior level.
- Able to present facts clearly and simply.
- Able to collaborate effectively with others to develop integrated programmes.
- Minimum 10 years’ experience of project planning.
- Significant experience of large (£100m plus) projects.
You’ll also have:
- Ability to use schedule risk modelling software such as Pertmaster.
- Ability to mentor and train subordinate staff.
- MAPM of formal PM/ project controls qualification.
- Experience in the railway environment.
