Job summary

Leicestershire County Council seeks an experienced Planning Lawyer to join the Environment & Property legal team. You will advise on planning, highways and development matters, shaping growth and infrastructure across the county.

The role involves planning committee work, major proposals, and section 106 obligations, with a focus on practical, solution-oriented advice. Flexible working and a supportive team are offered.

Qualifications

• Admitted solicitor, barrister or CILeX fellow or equivalent, with progress toward admission if applicable.
• Recent planning and development law experience is essential.
• Experience advising senior officers and elected Members on planning matters.
• Ability to conduct complex negotiations and provide clear legal guidance.

Responsibilities

• Provide specialist planning and highways advice across a broad caseload.
• Attend planning committees and advise on major development proposals and section 106 obligations.
• Support enforcement, appeals and related contentious planning matters.
• Deliver practical, client-focused legal guidance to senior staff and Members.
