Job summary

Altrad is seeking an experienced Senior Planner to join our team in the UK. You will develop, manage and maintain complex project programmes for major engineering and construction projects, with emphasis on EPC delivery and NEC contract awareness.

You will lead planning activities, prepare Level 3/4 schedules, coordinate with engineering, procurement and construction teams, and drive corrective actions. Proficient in Primavera P6 and MS Office is essential.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years' project planning experience on major engineering and construction projects.
• Experience developing and managing Level 3 and Level 4 project programmes.
• Proficient in Primavera P6 and bespoke planning systems.
• Experience in an EPC project delivery environment.
• Strong knowledge of NEC Contract requirements related to programme management.
• Ability to coordinate with engineering, procurement, contracts and construction teams.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with engineering and construction teams to reflect data in the programme.
• Monitor subcontractors and vendors for programme impacts.
• Identify delays, analyse risks, and propose corrective actions.

• Incorporate Compensation Events and PMIs into the programme when required.
• Produce planning reports using project management tools.
• continually improve programmes within budget, schedule, and resources.
• Apply Earned Value Management to monitor project performance.

About The Role

Altrad are currently looking for an experienced Senior Planner to join the team.

The successful candidate will have extensive experience in major engineering and construction projects, preferably within an EPC environment, and will play a key role in developing, managing, and maintaining project programmes while ensuring compliance with contractual requirements.

Key Deliverables:

• Develop and maintain Level 3 and Level 4 project schedules in accordance with the Project Planning Procedure.
• Ensure the project remains compliant with contractual requirements relating to programme and planning.
• Work closely with engineering and construction teams to ensure accurate and timely project data is received and reflected within the programme.
• Liaise with procurement, contracts, and expediting teams to monitor the delivery of services, materials, and equipment and identify potential delays or programme impacts.
• Monitor the overall programmes of subcontractors and vendors and promptly identify and communicate potential impacts to the project programme.
• Identify, analyse, and report delays or failures to meet project timescales and develop proposals for corrective actions and improvements.
• Lead and participate in weekly project planning meetings and provide planning support during client meetings.
• Incorporate Compensation Events and Project Management Instructions into the project programme where required.
• Produce accurate and timely planning reports using appropriate project management and planning tools.
• Develop and continually improve project programmes to support successful delivery within agreed budget, schedule, and resource constraints.
• Apply Rules of Credit and Earned Value Management principles to support effective project performance monitoring.

Key Requirements / Qualifications:

• Minimum 5 years' project planning experience, preferably within major engineering and construction projects.
• Demonstrable experience in developing and managing Level 3 and Level 4 project programmes.
• Proficiency in Primavera P6 and experience using bespoke planning systems.
• Experience working within an EPC project delivery environment.
• Strong knowledge and understanding of NEC Contract requirements, particularly in relation to programme management.
• Experience working collaboratively with engineering, construction, procurement, contracts, expediting, subcontractor, and vendor teams.
• Experience in identifying, analysing, and reporting programme delays, risks, and impacts.
• Knowledge and practical experience of Rules of Credit and Earned Value Management.
• Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office, particularly MS Word and MS Excel.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to liaise effectively with project teams, delivery partners, and clients.
• Ability to develop, maintain, and continuously improve project programmes based on budget, work schedule, and available resources.
• Strong organisational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
• A positive "can-do" mentality with a proactive approach to project delivery.
• Ability to lead by example, demonstrate the right behaviours, and maintain a "best for project" ethos.
• Ability to think laterally and flexibly to develop practical solutions while maintaining a process-driven approach to delivery.
