Job summary

Alexander Associates is seeking a Senior Planner to join its water infrastructure team in Hertfordshire. You will develop, manage, and report on tender and contractual programmes to meet milestones while coordinating with project and commercial teams.

Responsibilities include maintaining schedules, monitoring progress and costs, identifying risks, and mentoring junior planners. A fast-paced environment requires strong planning skills and effective communication with clients and stakeholders.

Qualifications

• Experience planning civil engineering and M&E projects.
• Knowledge of production control and collaborative planning techniques.
• Good understanding of current HSE practices and CSCS card.
• Experience working with NEC3 and NEC4 contracts.
• Strong MS Office and software application skills.
• Proficiency in Primavera P6 planning software.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
• Ability to identify project risks and opportunities.
• Comfortable working in a fast-paced project environment.
• Able to manage tight deadlines and competing priorities.
• Strong focus on project delivery and achieving targets.
• Proactive and self-motivated approach.

Responsibilities

• Work alongside the estimating team to produce tender programmes that are realistic and compliant with project requirements.
• Develop, maintain, update, and submit programmes in accordance with contractual obligations.
• Support the delivery of collaborative planning workshops.
• Lead the development and implementation of 4D construction planning.
• Create and maintain baseline programmes and monitor progress against them.
• Liaise with project teams to align planning assumptions, methodologies and outputs.
• Identify risks and opportunities throughout the planning process.
• Collect and distribute progress information and reasons for delays.
• Monitor changes to project scope and update programmes.
• Attend project and progress meetings and present updates.
• Conduct site visits to gather progress information.
• Escalate planning issues to Senior Planning Manager and site teams.
• Produce and distribute look-ahead programmes.
• Ensure accurate As-Built programme on project close-out.
• Maintain understanding of site operations and costs.
• Record impact of changes on site activities and contractual requirements.
• Prepare monthly progress reports for client requirements.
• Build relationships with Planning Manager, Project Managers, Commercial Team, and client representatives.
• Assist in Primavera P6 administration and training.
