Senior Planner – Water

Pinnacle Recruitment are currently recruiting for an experienced Senior Planner to join a major UK infrastructure contractor working across the Anglian Water AMP8 framework, based out of their Peterborough office.
This is an excellent opportunity to join a long-term water infrastructure programme, supporting the planning and delivery of a range of clean water and wastewater projects across the Anglian Water region.
As a Senior Planner, you will take a lead role in developing, managing and monitoring project programmes from pre-construction through to completion. You will work closely with Project Managers, Commercial teams, Site Teams, designers and subcontractors to ensure projects are effectively planned, monitored and delivered.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and manage detailed project programmes using P6 Primavera or similar planning software.
- Lead the preparation of construction programmes from tender and pre-construction through to project completion.
- Work closely with Project Managers and delivery teams to establish realistic construction methodologies, sequencing and programmes.
- Monitor progress against approved programmes and identify delays, risks, changes and potential programme impacts.
- Produce regular programme updates, progress reports, look-ahead programmes and performance information.
- Carry out detailed programme analysis and provide recommendations for mitigation and recovery.
- Coordinate programme information across multiple projects, disciplines, subcontractors and suppliers.
- Attend and lead planning and progress meetings with internal teams, clients and supply chain partners.
- Provide planning support to Project Managers and Senior Management, highlighting key programme risks and opportunities.
- Assist with resource planning, project forecasting and the development of key project milestones.
- Maintain accurate records of progress, delays, changes and programme impacts.
- Support change management, compensation events and extension-of-time assessments.
- Review subcontractor programmes and ensure they are aligned with the overall project programme.
- Contribute to project reporting and continuous improvement of planning processes across the framework.
- Mentor and provide guidance to more junior Planners within the team.
Requirements
- Significant experience working as a Planner or Senior Planner within construction, civil engineering or utilities.
- Previous experience within the water and wastewater sector or a major infrastructure environment is highly desirable.
- Strong working knowledge of P6 Primavera and/or other recognised planning software.
- Strong understanding of construction methodologies, sequencing and project delivery.
- Experience managing programmes across complex projects with multiple stakeholders and subcontractors.
- Good understanding of change management, delay analysis and programme impact assessment.
- Experience working within a framework environment would be advantageous.
- Strong analytical, organisational and communication skills.
- Ability to challenge programme performance and provide practical solutions to delivery teams.
- Relevant qualifications in construction, civil engineering, project management or planning are desirable.
