Job summary

Mercury is recruiting a Senior Planner to lead planning on large-scale construction projects in Oxford and the surrounding region. You will develop, maintain and monitor schedules for pre-construction, construction and commissioning, and you will manage progress data and reporting to clients and internal stakeholders.

Applicants should have at least five years in planning for major construction, be proficient in Primavera P6 and Earned Value Management, and be capable of producing programmes

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years' experience working in planning on large-scale construction projects.
• Proficient using Primavera P6, Earned Value Management, Excel.
• Clear understanding of construction methodologies and sequence.
• Able to produce programme to plan and monitor the works from necessary information (drawings/model/SOW etc.).
• Capable of managing the planning of large-scale projects with minimum supervision.
• Highly motivated, a self-starter & able to work well in a team on or your own.
• Clear communicator
• Ability to work well within strict deadlines.

Responsibilities

• Responsible for a project or portfolio of projects (regional / sectoral)
• Responsible for all aspects of planning, as defined by the Planning SOP
• Reporting to Planning Department
• Reporting to Business Unit / Project Management
• Developing and maintaining schedules for pre-construction / construction / commissioning
• Developing and maintaining progress databases
• Progress reporting
• Milestone projections, delay / float path analysis
• Earned Value Management systems
• Monitoring schedule performance and productivity
• Auditing progress on site
• Attending schedule meetings, liaising with client and subcontractors
• Preparation of tender schedules
• Preparation of histograms
• Leading planning meetings
• Supporting weekly workface planning systems
• Resource / cash loading of schedules
• Providing data for payment applications
• Completing contract review reports
• Responsibility for quality and accuracy of schedules and reports
• Making relevant parties aware of issues and advising on solutions
• Recording delay and disruption
• Assisting in the preparation of claims and providing data for contractual disputes
• Managing, training, coaching, supporting, developing, leading staff, if required
• Covering Planning Manager responsibilities when required
• Covering Project Planner responsibilities when required
