Job summary

Randstad CPE in Reading is seeking a Senior Planner for a Tier 1 contractor, focusing on education, healthcare and commercial sectors. You will lead bid planning, develop robust sequences, and manage Level 3/4 programmes using Asta Powerproject, with BIM 4D modelling as a plus.

Knowledge of NEC and JCT contracts is essential. You will mentor junior planners, align site teams with clients and subcontractors, and deliver concise monthly progress reports to senior leadership.

Qualifications

• Extensive experience in a Senior Planning role within UK Tier 1 or regional contracting environments.
• Advanced proficiency in Asta Powerproject is essential.
• Experience with Primavera P6 or BIM (4D Modelling) is a plus.
• Strong knowledge of NEC and JCT contracts.

Responsibilities

• Lead the planning process during bid/tender stages, developing robust logic and identifying innovative construction sequences to win work.
• Create and maintain Level 3 and 4 programmes (using Asta Powerproject) integrating design, procurement and construction.
• Perform Quantitative Schedule Risk Analysis (QSRA) to identify bottlenecks before they occur and propose solutions.
• Act as a bridge between site teams, clients and subcontractors to ensure alignment on the one version of the truth.
• Provide concise monthly progress reports and dashboard metrics for senior leadership.

Senior Planner Tier 1 Contractor Hampshire

Location: Southern Region (Strategic focus on Hampshire, Surrey, Berkshire)

Contract: Full:Time, Permanent

Salary: GBP90 : GBP95k basic + Car Allowance + Pension + Benefits

The Opportunity

Our client dont just build buildings; they build the infrastructure and buildings that keeps the UK moving. The Southern team is expanding from their offices in reading, and they are looking for a Senior Planner who balances technical mastery with a collaborative spirit.

Youll be the strategic backbone of their major projects, translating complex visions into actionable, efficient, and profitable programs. Whether its a high:tech healthcare facility, a landmark educational hub, or a commercial development, you will ensure we deliver on our promise of excellence. A majority of the work is procured via frameworks so in essence its a bid it, win it, 2nd stage it then take it to site and deliver it philosophy alongside repeat business opportunities with existing clients.

Projects range from GBP30 to GBP120 million in education, bio:pharma, student, BTR, offices and retail/mixed use.

Your Impact

Role

As a Senior Planner, you wont just be tracking dates. You will be a key member of the team and a mentor to the wider planning team. Your role involves:

• Pre:Construction Leadership: Leading the planning process during the bid and tender stage, developing robust logic, and identifying innovative construction sequences to win work.
• Project Controls: Creating and maintaining detailed Level 3 and 4 programs (using Asta Powerproject) that integrate design, procurement, and construction.
• Risk and Opportunity: Performing Quantitative Schedule Risk Analysis (QSRA) to identify bottlenecks before they happen and proposing creative solutions to keep us ahead of the curve.
• Stakeholder Synergy: Acting as the bridge between our site teams, clients, and subcontractors to ensure everyone is aligned with the one version of the truth.
• Reporting: Providing clear, concise monthly progress reports and dashboard metrics for senior leadership.
