Job summary

Foster & May in Manchester seeks a Senior Planner to lead detailed programmes for major infrastructure projects. You will work with project teams to ensure timely delivery, monitor progress and report to stakeholders with insight on risks and opportunities.

The role requires Power BI proficiency, experience with Primavera P6/Asta Powerproject, NEC contracts knowledge, and a proactive, collaborative approach across delivery and design teams.

Qualifications

• Proven experience as Planner/Senior Planner in construction, civil engineering or infrastructure.
• Excellent working knowledge of Power BI and project controls.
• Strong knowledge of planning techniques and NEC contract delivery.
• Experience developing and managing programmes with Primavera P6 or Asta Powerproject.
• Analytical mindset with attention to detail and good communication.

Responsibilities

Senior Planner - Construction Consultancy - Major Infrastructure and Utilities Projects

An established, national Construction Consultancy seeks a Senior Planner to join its successful and growing team, delivering major construction and infrastructure projects across the North West.

Based in Manchester - with hybrid working - this is a key role in supporting the successful planning and delivery of complex projects, working closely with project teams, commercial teams, clients and stakeholders to ensure programmes are effectively developed, monitored and delivered.

The Senior Planner's role

• Develop, manage and maintain detailed project programmes from pre-construction through to completion.
• Work collaboratively with project teams to ensure effective planning and delivery strategies are implemented.
• Monitor progress against agreed programmes, identifying risks, opportunities and potential delays.
• Provide accurate programme updates, reports and analysis to project stakeholders.
• Support the identification and management of project risks, mitigation strategies and recovery plans.
• Review project performance and provide advice on programme impacts and potential solutions.
• Work closely with commercial, design and delivery teams to ensure alignment across all project activities.
• Support tender and pre-construction planning activities.
• Manage change control processes and assess the impact of variations and compensation events.
• Contribute to continuous improvement of planning processes and best practice.

The Senior Planner

• Proven experience working as a Planner or Senior Planner within construction, civil engineering or infrastructure.
• Excellent working knowledge of Power BI is essential
• Strong knowledge of planning techniques and project controls.
• Experience developing and managing programmes using Primavera P6 and/or Asta Powerproject.
• Good understanding of NEC contracts and project delivery processes.
• Strong analytical skills with excellent attention to detail.
• Ability to communicate effectively with project teams, clients and senior stakeholders.
• A proactive approach with the ability to manage competing priorities.
• Experience working on complex projects from inception through to completion.
• Relevant qualifications in construction, engineering, project management or a related discipline (preferred).
