Job summary

Mott MacDonald Bentley in the North West is recruiting a Senior Planner to drive delivery of major infrastructure projects. You will programme in P6, develop detailed delivery plans and produce performance reports to keep schemes on track.

You will lead a small team of Planners, mentor junior staff and collaborate with project managers, engineers and other specialists to build robust, actionable schedules and ensure on-time, contract-compliant performance.

Qualifications

• CSCS and SSSTS qualifications required.
• Extensive experience as a Senior Planner.
• Proficiency in Primavera P6 and MS Project.
• Understand civil engineering principles and practices.
• Excellent communication, problem-solving and teamwork skills.
• Full driving Licence and willingness to travel to site locations.

Responsibilities

• Ensure projects are programmed in P6 to the necessary level of detail for operational teams to deliver and ensure contract compliance.
• Develop detailed project plans and continuously monitor project progress, updating schedules and generating performance reports.
• Lead the Plan for Stage process including development of delivery plans and understand constraints and sequences and look ahead meetings/process to ensure it is robust and consistently applied across all projects.
• Produce required project reports including identification of project risks and opportunities.
• Work closely with project managers, engineers and other team members to gather necessary information to build programmes from scratch, facilitating planning sessions to produce detailed, logical plans.
• Lead and manage a team of Planners, mentoring junior members of staff to support growth within the business.
• Report key project milestones and support the team in effective, on-time delivery while identifying opportunities for programme improvement.

Mott MacDonald Bentley is a fully integrated design and build business combining the design expertise of Mott MacDonald with the contracting experience of JN Bentley, operating across water, energy and environment sectors throughout the UK.

We have been named a partner on a new AMP8 framework with United Utilities, which will extend our relationship for at least the next five years. The partnership is set to be responsible for over £3bn of major infrastructure in the North West of England. Investment includes upgrades to wastewater treatment works and reducing storm overflows through the delivery of the largest spill reduction programme in the UK, protecting more than 500km of rivers and bathing waters.

As a Senior Planner, you will play an essential role in ensuring the successful delivery of projects that make a real difference to our environment and communities—ranging from improving flood defences and upgrading water treatment works to providing nature-based solutions that enhance biodiversity.

The Role Of a Senior Planner Includes

What You’ll Need

• Considerable experience working within a Senior Planner role
• Proficiency in Primavera P6 and MS Project
• Understand civil engineering principles and practices
• Have excellent communication, problem solving and teamwork skills
• A valid driving licence and willingness to travel to sites across your operational region
